ABOUT US

Hello! This is the RLHS Green Team. We are a club at the local high school that was founded in 2012 by science teacher Kate Belinda and a few of her more environmentally-minded students. Our mission: to reduce the negative environmental impacts of our school and the surrounding community. So far, we feel we have succeeded. We are the Montana SMART Schools Green Schools Challenge champions two years running (here's hoping for a 2017 three-peat!) and we have drastically increased the percentage of trash that gets recycled here at RLHS. Also, we recently received a grant from NorthWestern Energy that will allow us to put solar panels on the roof of the school. We expect to see our 50-panel solar array up and running by the end of summer 2017. Now we’re on to our next project: a wind turbine in our backyard that could potentially offset up to 50% of the high school’s energy costs. That money could be put towards our academic or athletic programs, or to the high school’s general maintenance and upkeep, or even put towards the Green Team’s next endeavor, whatever it may be! That’s why we’re asking YOU, the community, to support us and give us your vote of confidence. This wind turbine could do us all a world of good.
